1. Who we are

Klei ("we", "us", "our") is a management platform for learning and enrichment centers. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use our platform or interact with services connected to it, including Facebook Messenger.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account information — Name, contact details, and role when a learning center creates a staff account.
• Student and guardian information — Names, contact details, date of birth, and enrollment data entered by learning center staff to manage their operations.
• Facebook Messenger data — When a person messages a learning center's Facebook Page that is connected to Klei, we receive their Facebook name, profile ID, and the messages they send. We only receive messages sent after the learning center connects their Facebook Page to Klei — prior conversation history is not collected. This data is used to identify the sender and facilitate communication between the person and the learning center.
• Waitlist — Email address when you sign up for our waitlist.
• Usage analytics — We use cookies and analytics tools to capture how visitors interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay, to improve our products and services.
• Error and performance monitoring — We use error monitoring tools to collect technical data (stack traces, browser/device info, IP address) to diagnose and fix issues in the platform.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and operate the Klei platform for learning centers.
• To facilitate communication between learning centers and prospective students/guardians via Facebook Messenger.
• To send automated responses on behalf of the learning center to common inquiries received via Facebook Messenger.
• To diagnose and fix technical issues in the platform.
• To improve our services based on usage patterns and analytics.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share data only in these circumstances:

• With the learning center — Facebook Messenger conversations and inquiry data are visible to the staff of the learning center whose Facebook Page received the message.
• Service providers — We use third-party infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email) that process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as the learning center's account is active or as needed to provide services. When an account is closed, we delete associated personal data within 90 days, unless retention is required by law.

6. Data security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption at rest and in transit, and access controls. Sensitive credentials such as third-party access tokens are encrypted before storage.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (see our Data Deletion page).
• Object to or restrict processing of your data.
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

8. Facebook platform data

Our use of information received from Facebook APIs adheres to the Meta Platform Terms. To manage or delete data collected through Facebook Messenger, see our Data Deletion page.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
